Healthy weight loss program
By Akanett Web Publishing

For anyone wishing to lose weight, a healthy program is a must. Settling for anything less than a healthy program can lead you down the wrong path and you might find that you have more problems to deal with than being overweight.

The best thing you can do to find yourself a healthy program is to first talk things over with your doctor or even a qualified nutritionist or dietician. These worthy individuals can give you the proper advice on what type of you need to follow in order to lose weight in a healthy manner.

Although some people do follow the advice given to them by these qualified professional, most people tend to find that a healthy program such as what is advised, takes too long a time to show any real results.

This is why so many people find themselves turning instead to fad diets and other means of which will show them results more or less immediately.

And although this can be done in a safe manner, if you look really closely at these fad diets, most of them go against the grain of what is really healthy for a person. Instead, it embraces bits and pieces of a healthy program leaving out some essential foods and nutrients.

It’s true that a person can live on this type of diet without to much of a problem, but what about the long term affects? What happens to a person over the long when they feed their body only half of the nutrients it requires?

What happens if a person needs to go back to a full fledged healthy diet for a health condition? Do they throw it all away because it goes against what they have been consuming on a daily basis for the last few years?

And more to the point, what happens when a person goes off this type of half healthy diet? Do they keep the weight off permanently, or do they regain it back again nullifying all their hard work?

These are serious questions that need to be answered and looked into if a person is looking at losing weight using these means.

And although the more sensible attitude would be to go with a healthy program instead of only a half healthy one, many people prefer instant gratification and are unwilling to spend the time and effort needed to lose weight in a healthy manner.

If you are looking at losing weight, and you have the time and the patience, then losing weight using a healthy program is the best thing that you could do for yourself, forgetting all the fad diets and things. You will be surprised at the results you get.

New Happenings this Week
If you want to stay mentally fit, you'd better stay physically fit as well. If exercise is good for the heart, it's good for the brain, too. What we thought of as risk factors for cardiovascular disease turn out to be risk factors for cognitive decline as well. Aerobic exercise and a diet rich in antioxidants, such as those found in brightly colored fruits, can protect your brain from some of the cellular damage associated with cognitive disorders. Hot Fitness Tip of the Week
Eight glasses of water everyday. This is a common diet tip and most people know this, yet they still don't drink enough water during the day. There are some very important reasons for drinking water. It hasn't got any calories and it's devoid of caffeine and chemicals. Sometimes when you think you're hungry, it's really thirst that will curb the cravings. Cold water can be hard on the kidneys so drink it lukewarm.

Always Maintain a Positive Attitude: Many years ago, a large American shoe manufacturer sent two sales reps out to different parts of the Australian outback to see if they could drum up some business among the aborigines. Some time later, the company received telegrams from both agents. The first one said, ""No business here...natives don't wear shoes."" The second one said, ""Great opportunity here...natives don't wear shoes!"" In order to be a success, always maintain a positive attitude.

Article of the Week: Exercise Delays Alzheimer's Symptoms
Exercise Delays Alzheimer's Symptoms: A little bit of exercise helps people improve their memory and brain function, according to a new study. Exercise is recommended for weight loss, stress relief and energy boosts -- and now, exercise may also be used as a weapon in the fight against Alzheimer's Disease (AD. Alzheimers Disease is a tragic illness that robs victims and their families of years of happiness by slowly destroying the mind and personality of the person afflicted. Though there is no cure yet, there are drugs available to treat symptoms and delay progression of Alzheimer's if it is diagnosed early. A recent study shows moderate exercise may prevent the onset of AD by slowing memory decline, an early symptom of the disease. The finding is based on more than 1,700 adults aged 65 and older who didn't have dementia at the study's start. Remember, Dementia isn't a normal part of aging, but it becomes more common with age. Alzheimer's is the most common form of dementia in older adults. Those who reported exercising at least three times per week were nearly a third less likely to develop dementia -- primarily Alzheimer's -- over six years. Researchers randomly assigned older adults at increased risk of dementia into either a 24-week exercise program or an education program. Participants in the exercise program were encouraged to exercise three times a week for 50 minutes, with the most frequently recommended activity being walking. Cognitive function was evaluated over 18 months.

Consider This

Water Is The Most Important Nutrient

Water makes up about 60-70% of your body weight. Water helps to control the temprature of the body and serves a vehicles for moving nutrients to the different parts of the body. Fluid imbalance can lead to several problems in the body including weight gain.

Water Tips

Drink plenty of water. You body needs a lot of water. Water is not just way to flush out toxin but if you have more water in your body you will generally feel healthier and fitter. This will discourage any tendency to gorge. The best thing about water is that is has no calories at all.

Start your day with a glass of water. Drink a glass of cool water first thing in the morning. It is a wonderful way to start your day and you only need a lesser quantity of your breakfast after that.

Drink a glass of water before you start the meal. Water naturally needs some space so that you feel fuller without actually having to stuff yourself.

Have another glass of water while you are having the meal. Again this is another way of making yourself  full so that you can actually rise from the table eating less but feeling full just the same. Instead of drinking it one gulp, take sips after each morsel. It will help the food to settle faster so that you get that feeling that you are full faster.

Water also plays an important part in weight control.
